I will try to answer “What are the symptoms and types of lung cancer?” questions in this article. Tumors resulting with irregularly division and multiplication of cells in an organ or tissue are called as cancer.
With more general meaning, cancer is a disease group which formed by uncontrolled proliferation of cells in body and has more than 100 types. All types of cancer develop from cells which is the basic building block of the body. To understand cancer it needs to get to know how normal cells turned into cancer cells.
To function of body in healty and properly form, it needs cells to grow, divide and multiply. Sometimes cell division, except something that should be, continues to division without the need for new cell.
After this uncontrolled division and multiplication, cells form a mass or tumor in area where they are and form damage in DNA strand. Cell needs to this DNA strand to see the normal function. Because of these damaged DNA strands cancer cells arise from fulfilling their functions and inability to repair themselves.
There is lung cancer at the beginning of the most common ones in cancer types. So what are the symptoms and types of lung cancer?
Lungs providing oxygen requirement in the body consist of many cells like the other organs. Lung cancer occurs in the result of mass form in lung with uncontrollable multiplying of cells formed from normal lung tissue. This mass spreads to surrounding tissues with growing in place where it is and creates damage.
This spread also known as metastase. The emergence of lung cancer symptoms may take many years and patients generally recognizes after reaching an advanced stage.
While there are no symptoms in %25 of patients, symptoms like cough, constant pain in the chest area, blood with cough, difficulty breathing, wheezing in breathing in the early stages of the disease; symptoms like swallowing difficulties, installing the throat feeling, lung infection or having pneumonia and inability to get rid of them, formation of swelling on neck and face, anorexia, weight loss and fatigue in advanced stages in remains are emerging.
There are two types of lung cancer. Lung cancer types which are divided to two groups looking the images of the cells watched with microscope are known as small celled(oat celled) lung cancer and out of small celled lung cancer. More rarely seen small celled lung cancer progresses very fast and encountered as spreaded to the other side of body when diagnosed.
Out of small celled lung cancer, creates %75 of all lung cancers, divides into three groups. These are squamose celled, large celled and adeno cancers. Out of them, there are also many rare species under the name of carcinoid, pleomorphic carcinoma and not classificated. The most curious thing by patients is which one of lung cancer types is worse.
Small celled lung cancer shows faster growth and spreading tendency in comparison with out of small celled lung cancer. But yet this cancer type gives faster and better response according to out of small celled lung cancer. A significant improvement or deterioration condition is not concerned in out of small celled lung cancer.
